FAQ

  • How does the AlkalineUP filter work?
Using the AlkalineUP filter you obtain alkaline water with a pH index of 8. The filtration removes chlorine and substances which may interfere with the taste and smell. The water from the AlkalineUP filter is mineralized and, therefore, as in the case of the magnesium MineralUP filter is not recommended for cooking. Daily drinking of alkaline water can raise the whole body pH. It can also enhance vitality, help provide a balanced diet and maintain the acid- balance of the body. Alkaline water is appreciated both in the Far East, the US and Europe. They have a long tradition of use in Japan and South Korea.
  • Can the water filtered by an MineralUP filter can be used in cooking?
Yes, the water does not lose the magnesium ions during cooking. The MineralUP filter reduces the hardness of tap water in a lesser way than the standard filter and, therefore, the hard water may still cause scale in our kettles, as with boiling tap water. If limescale in home appliances is not a problem for the user ofe the filter jug, they can freely boil filtered water. However, the MineralUP filter is dedicated to people who want to enrich their water with magnesium and benefit from its advantages immediately after filtering and without need of cooking.

  • What form of magnesium does the MineralUP filter add and in what quantity?
Filtered water contains magnesium ions mainly in the form of bicarbonate. The daily magnesium requirement for an adult human is approx. 300 mg/l. In one liter of water filtered through a pad Dafi MineralUP is on average approx. 30 mg/l magnesium. This is an average value, which means that it changes during the use of the filter and varies from 45 mg/l to 15 mg/l (approx. after 120 liters).
  • What is the difference between the filters and how to choose the best for me among Dafi Standard, MineralUP, AlkalineUP and AntiLime?
Go to the comparative table in the tab Dafi filters on our website.
  • Is it worth filtering soft water?
Yes, if you mind the smell and taste (eg. Chlorine). We recommend a Dafi MineralUP filter, which softens water far less compared to the Standard filter. It doesn’t affect the sodium and potassium level, in addition it enriches the water with magnesium ions.
  • Do the filters completely remove minerals contained in the tap water?
During the filtration process tap water is purified from the substances which may impair its odor, taste and colour. Only the excess of salts responsible for scale is removed. In addition, the filter stops mechanical impurities: sand, rust and fine suspensions. Filtered water cannot be compared with distilled water, which is completely demineralized and is not suitable for drinking. The water still contains sodium and potassium. Dafi MineralUP and AlkalineUP filters mineralize the water with extra magnesium and alkaline ions.
  • Do the filters remove manganese and iron?
We do not offer filters which remove manganese and iron.
  • What to do if the filter does not let the water flow?
It happens that the mix will work incorrectly when the filtering compound is too tight. It causes the water flow to be slowed down or even to stop. If it happens, you should shake the filter vigorously. If that does not work, contact us and we will replace your filter with a new one.
  • Little black specks have appeared in the jug after the first use. Are they dangerous?
It is a natural phenomenon. These are activated carbon particles which form part of the filter blend. These molecules will not, in any case, adversely affect health. The granular activated carbon is manufactured from coconut shell. Like every product of a natural origin, coconut shells are characterized by a natural variability of structure. Finally, non-adhering, small activated carbon particles can pass, along with the water filtered at the bottom of the pot. The carbon particles within the filter cartridge are responsible for the removal of chemical impurities. The carbon used in the filter is natural and is similar to that used to treat indigestion.
  • What to do if the filter mix is leaking out?
Our production lines are fully automated, there may have been an insufficiently welded filtering mesh with the filter cap or it wrapped around, causing a leak from the deposit. Despite the improvement of our control processes, such mistakes sometimes happen. With each notified case of this type we immediately replace the filter with a new one.
  • After opening the foil, drops of water can be seen
Water droplets are an effect of sterilizing filter with water vapor at 100 ° C. This steam condenses so the interior remains moist - it is beneficial to maintain the optimal parameters of a filter.
  • Must the filter be constantly immersed in water?
The filter should be submerged in water, but if you sometimes forget about it, it will not significantly affect the properties of the filtration.
  • Why does green film appear on the bottom of the jug?
This is because algae growth may occur in the wet and the exposed environment. To prevent it, keep the jug in the shade or in the refrigerator and wash it when you replace the cartridge.
  • How to remove white coating, which has been deposited on the jug lid?
To prevent contamination of the jug with each replacement of the filter, wash all the pitcher elements with water and dishwashing liquid. scale, which can possibly settle on a pitcher, can be removed using water with vinegar or citric acid.
  • Can Dafi jugs be washed in the dishwasher?
The dishwasher can wash all the elements of a pitcher, except for the cover with the LED indicator, which should be carefully washed by hand to avoid flooding the electronics.
  • How to dispose of used filters?
The old filters can be disposed of by simply throwing them into the trash. The material of which they are made is entirely recyclable, and the filtering cartridge content poses no threat to the environment at all.
  • Do the jug filters remove bacteria from the water?
None of our filters remove bacteria from the water. Tap water is disinfected by the chlorine used in water pipes. Filter jugs remove the chlorine by filtration. The filter cartridge includes activated carbon which is impregnated with silver, it is a barrier against microbial growth, but without bactericidal properties.
  • What ingredients do Dafi filters contain?
The filling is composed of activated carbon and ion exchange resin.

Activated carbon acts like a sponge - it absorbs chlorine and its derivatives, detergents and pesticides and organic impurities. This is similar to coal, which we buy at the pharmacy in the case of food poisoning and that is used in gas masks. It is a natural substance acquired mostly from the burning of coconut husks. Carbon removes odours from the water and improves its taste. In addition, it is impregnated with silver - it protects the interior of the filter from the development of microorganisms.

The ion exchange resin removes the excess salt which causes water hardness that is the cause of scaling in home appliances. Some of the resins are capable of enriching water with minerals, as in the case of filters Dafi MineralUP and Dafi AlkalineUP.

The raw materials we use come from German manufacturers and have the necessary quality certificates.
  • What is the difference between the Classic and Unimax filters?
These filters vary in performance. The Unimax filter contains more of the filtering layer, which provides the ability to filter between 150 and 200 liters of water, which is approximately 50 liters more than the Classic filter. The Unimax filter is recommended in the case of a higher consumption of water, eg. Due to large families. Both filters have the same shelf life, which is one month from unpacking and first use.
  • Can the replaceable filter be used for longer than one month if you rarely filter the water?
If you replace the filter within a few days of the expiry date, it will not cause a significant decrease in the quality of filtered water. However, to achieve the optimal parameters of the drinking water, the filter should be replaced after a month. Each filter contains active carbon which removes chlorine and organic impurities. This is impregnated with a normative amount of silver which ensures the sterility of the cartridge for a month. Also, an amount of resin contained in the filter is responsible for the water hardness removal which is limited by the filter size. After one month it begins to lose its properties.

  • How often should I change the filter?
Each type of filter should be changed 30 days after unpacking and its insertion into the jug. Set the indicator, located on the jug lid, every time you replace a filter. It will ensure, that your filter is always fresh and ready to use.

The manual indicator shows the day and month of the next filter replacement. The LED sensor turns red one month after the replacement. The LED sensor also has a function that indicates the need to prepare for the filter replacement one week before the due date, when the LED is yellow.
  • Can filtered water be given to children and infants?
According to the Polish Institute of Mother and Child, filtered water is safe and recommended for consumption and the preparation of meals for children over 1 year old, after boiling.

Tap water has different mineral contents and other elements depending on the source and the land from where it came from. In accordance with the standards for an infant up to 1 year old, water used to drink and prepare meals should have a constant composition. Regardless of the water intake, it should be chemically and bacteriological clean. Moreover, until the baby reaches 1 year of age, you should boil any water - both filtered tap water or bottled water.
  • Can you drink filtered water directly without boiling?
Yes, adults can satisfy their thirst with tap water filtered with a Dafi jug. It’s safe, clean and tasty. The water that flows in the tap meets the strict standards of the European Union and the Minister of Health. You may not know, but sometimes the standards for tap water are even stricter than those of bottled water.
